Paul Lacey's Back To Basie Orchestra were voted Best Big Band at the British Jazz Awards in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. Back to Basie is Britain's primary Count Basie tribute orchestra, directed by trumpet player Paul Lacey and featuring top session musicians and jazz soloists dedicated to playing the music of Count Basie's second great orchestra of the 1950s and 1960s. Paul Lacey leads 17 of the UK's top session players and jazz soloists to form the Back to Basie Big Band. The wonderful music of Count Basie from the 50s comes alive again in the hands of his top-class ensemble.
