The BBC Concert Orchestra is one of the country s most versatile ensembles. For more than half a century it has been the house orchestra for BBC Radio 2 s Friday Night is Music Night and gives regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. Its work can be heard on soundtracks to many BBC TV programmes including Blue Planet, Frozen Planet and Human Planet. A celebration of British music with the BBC Concert Orchestra and electrifying folk duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, who have twice won Best Duo at BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards. Orchestral classical music inspired by traditional folk song will sit alongside interpretations that cast new light on traditional folk material from Nancy - BBC Radio 2's current Folk Singer of the Year - and James. Nancy's earthy fiddle playing marries perfectly with the rhythm of James' bouzouki, and their melting vocal harmonies bring a magical quality to their evocative story telling. This concert will be recorded for later broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
