Production details
The strings and winds of City of London Sinfonia return to artsdepot with a programme featuring popular classical works by Mozart and Haydn in combination with a youthful String Symphony written by Felix Mendelssohn when he was just fourteen and a short work of the Russian master Dmitri Shostakovich. Mozart's Violin Concerto in A major was given the nickname The Turkish because of the Eastern flavour audible in the last movement. For this concert, the 200th anniversary of Haydn's death is marked by a performance of one of Haydn's most well-loved pieces, his Farewell Symphony. Pentland Theatre
