Robert Schumann, an unknown composer, gives his beloved fiancee Clara Wieck a special gift on the eve of their long awaited wedding - a cycle of eight songs strangely foretelling the lovers' own story, entitled Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman's Love and Life). Sung here in glorious new English translations by Olivier Award nominee Elizabeth Mansfield, these beautiful, enigmatic songs illuminate the telling of Robert and Clara's passionate and compelling story.
