For the second time, the Red Bull Music Academy brings Culture Clash to Roundhouse. Four contending soundsystems, representing four branches of London bass music. Five rounds of the very best cross-genre explorations. One champion. Who wins? You, the crowd, decide. Ever since Carnival first came to Notting Hill half a century ago, soundsystems have carved their reputations into the capital's musical tapestries. To celebrate this tradition, some of the city's biggest soundmen enter the ring under the watchful eye of the mighty Don Letts - to thrash out tunes and battle for sub-bass supremacy. The line up on the night welcomes some of the most pioneering names in the evolution of bass music, from roots reggae to jungle to dubstep, and everything in between.

The Red Bull Music Academy presents Culture Clash, a celebration of the vital role sound systems have played on London’s cultural psyche. Jazzie B’s Soul II Soul, Trojan Sound System, Goldie’s Metalheadz and dubstep pioneers Digital Mystikz take to the stage for London’s first cross-genre clash ever. Hosted by Don Letts The funky dreds of Soul II Soul were at the forefront of UK club soul in the late 80’s, with hits on both sides of the Atlantic with ‘Back To Life’ and ‘Keep On Movin’’. Goldie and his Metalheadz label, with their legendary club night at Hoxton’s Blue Note Café, played a pivotal role in propelling the junglist movement to unknown heights. Trojan Sound System have been selecting the livest roots ‘n’ culture anthems for years while Digital Mystikz, aka Mala and Coki, constantly push the vibrant dubstep scene to new shores.
