With her own inimitable voice laced with angels and demons, and a new found tenderness, this one-woman sonic event creates a staggering range of emotions adding a lyricism to her passionate and at times disturbing performance. For this UK premiere, Diamanda takes texts from exiled poets throughout the world including Armenian Siamanto, Belgian Henri Michaux and Syrian born Adonis enriching them through a range of musical styles inspired by Rembetika, Greek and Armenian liturgical singing and the American blues and sacred songs of the deep south.
