Born in Sarajevo to a Serbian mother and Croatian father, Goran Bregovic is not a gypsy, but has written some of the most famous gypsy music in the world. For this concert Bregovic brings his own band featuring fifteen male singers from Belgrade, four Bulgarian female vocalists, a string orchestra from Poland and the Serbian Gypsy brass band that featured in Underground. He describes the result as a 'Frankenstein programme somewhere between gypsy music and the Orthodox tradition.
