Bringing together musicians from all over the world, the Grand Union has forged a reputation for bold, large-scale music shows. Combining internationally-renowned musicians and jazz soloists from India, Bangladesh, China, Eastern Europe, South and West Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and the UK, joined for this performance by local guest artists. Trading Roots features a 12-strong band in an extraordinary blend of musical styles: sinuous Indian ragas combine with Latin American salsa, Chinese melodies acquire rich jazz harmonies, Bengali songs sport reggae bass-lines, soca and township music meet West African drumming and chant, while bhangra and samba go head to head with wild jazz improvisation!
