Fresh from a showcase week at Ronnie Scott’s, Guy Barker brings The Amadeus Project to The Anvil you with his jazz orchestra that features the finest line-up of musicians yet, including Rosario Giuliani, Byron Wallen and Per "Texas" Johansson. With a script by thriller writer Robert Ryan, and narrated by actor Michael Brandon, the timeless tale of good and evil in The Magic Flute unfolds in a forties film noir setting. The Amadeus Suite, which follows, presents a series of musical portraits of some of the characters. It may sounds unusual, but it works brilliantly, and contains some of Barker’s very best music to date.
