Production details

This recital is the International Piano Series debut of the distinguished Turkish composer and pianist Hüseyin Sermet. He has chosen to set Chopin in his contemporary context by framing two of the four Ballades with works by Charles-Valentin Alkan and Franz Liszt, two of the most original and powerful pianist-composers working in Paris at the same time as the Polish genius. The programme culminates with Liszt’s towering B minor Sonata. Queen Elizabeth Hall
