Idil Biret - The King's Speech archiveThe Turkish pianist s discography on the Naxos label is legendary for including all major piano concertos and concert repertoires by the great classical masters. Since age sixteen Idil has given concerts throughout the world with major orchestras including the, Leningrad Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors including Pierre Monteux, Alexander Dimitreev, Anthony Wit and Aaron Copland. Idil will perform Beethoven s Emperor piano concerto, the slow movement of which was famously used to bring beauty and poignancy to the end of blockbuster film The King s Speech. The concert will also feature Beethoven s Symphony No. 7 in A major which enhances the climactic speech by Colin Firth as George VI. The German composer s famous works will be enveloped by Mozart s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and Elis Pehkonen s Playing with Fire concert overture.
