Details
John first sang professionally in his twenties and funded his first music course by performing on the street and selling self-recorded CDs. For ten years he sang over bitter winds and the rumble of the market crowds, earning himself the nickname, 'The People's Tenor'. In 2007 John took a 'pub dare' to attempt to sell-out the 2,000 seat capacity Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, for charity, with no marketing or publicity. Few took him seriously, but after selling out the venue, he repeated his success again the following year John will be supported by his brother Moray and soprano Michelle Crozier. The Innes brothers have a natural brotherly rivalry and affection on stage, whether they are duelling on saxophones or mimicking each other’s singing genres, their banter maintains a level of fun and exuberance throughout the concert. John will pay tribute to his favourite tenors, Lanza, Pavarotti and Caruso, but also include some military pieces to acknowledge John’s chosen charity for 2010, Help for Heroes. Among the tenor classics such as Nessun Dorma and E Lucevan le Stelle will be anthems such as Requiem for a Soldier, You Raise Me Up, I Am My Country as well as John’s cheerful take on Modern Major General.
