Bosnian singer, Ljiljana Buttler, has been compared variously to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf. Sevdah is the traditional music of Bosnia - plaintive, heart-rending songs, perfectly conveyed by Buttler’s smoky voice. Mostar Sevdah Reunion, as its name suggests, reunites some of the Balkans’ finest musicians, their styles ranging from up beat, foot-tapping love songs to melancholy ballads. | |
