Join us for a night of Scottish music! An exciting repertoire including competition sets, solo performances, drum fanfare and new concert arrangements from the Mackenzie Caledonian Pipe Band. Performing alongside them will be the Tayside Young Fiddlers with an eclectic blend of traditional and contemporary fiddle tunes. The TYF are a youth music group which aims to promote and encourage the enjoyment, study and development of traditional Scottish music and music of kindred cultures. Mackenzie Caledonian are a long established competing pipe band based in Dundee. Now in their 96th year they consist of an adult Grade 2 band and a Junior band made up from highly dedicated local and national members with diverse backgrounds, jobs and schools. Both bands compete, with the Grade 2 band finishing a successful 2014 season winning major prizes including 2nd at the European Championships and 5th at the World Championships in Glasgow. The band runs its own teaching programme through the novice juvenile band and encourages children of all ages to come along and learn to play the pipes or drums. Members of both bands regularly come together and play at various functions and parades and now, for the first time in a long time, they are excited to be performing on stage in their home town of Dundee.
