Production details

Malam Mamane Barka is a master of the traditional Niger instrument, the Biram. Played by the nomad Boudouma fishing tribe, the instrument, a five stringed harp is considered a holy instrument protected by the spirits of the lake and the desert. Malam plays tribal songs and original compositions with ‘Bori’ Omar playing three kinds of drum including the douma, a spiritual drum used for the secret rhythms of the Haussa trance dance. Hypnotic, mesmerizing songs of ancestors, spirits, animals, the beauty of the lake and desert and the bravery of warriors in a unique evening. Studio
