With his soul-inflected style, singer, songwriter, guitarist Oliver Mtukudzi alone rivals Thomas Mapfumo for the mantle of Zimbabwe musical father. Bembeya Jazz are one of Africa's legendary bands. Formed in 1961, they mixed popular Cuban and Congolese rhumba with Guinean traditional styles.
