Orchestra Europa archiveWith its unique combination of performance and education, Orchestra Europa is changing the lives of young people and enhancing the future of orchestral playing in Europe. Founded in 2006, the ensemble comprises students on the cusp of their careers. Alongside valuable performance experience, they receive mentoring from professional players and in turn, mentor school children, establishing a continuous cycle of performance and education. Orchestra Europa launches its 08/09 International Concert series with Dvorak’s powerful Symphony No 9, his New World Symphony, and Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with soloist Ayako Uehara conducted by Vasily Petrenko. Established as one of the outstanding young conductors of his generation, Petrenko is currently Principal Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
