Pemberton Old Band was first formed in 1891, beginning life as the Blue Jackets Band and then the Wigan Rifles Band. One of the finest prize winning bands in the country, the band has steadily gained recognition in the contest field, winning the Burtonwood Championships two years running, Northwest District Championship and runners up at Northwest Area Championships. With a new musical director, conductor and GMR Brass presenter John Maines, the Band will represent the Northwest at the Royal Albert Hall.
