Backed by his Barcelonan big band, the godfather of Rumba Catalana, the infectiously upbeat mix of flamenco and Latin American styles - in his long-awaited UK debut!. The long-awaited UK debut for Peret, the godfather of Rumba Catalana - the infectiously upbeat mix of flamenco and Latin America styles which he took to the world in the 1970s. Peret is a legend - not only among Catalans, but right across Spain - having represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 and performing at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. In 2001, Peret recorded an album of updated versions of his older songs, with guests including David Byrne, Sergeant Garcia and Professor Angel Dust. His songs have been covered by everyone from Tom Jones to David Byrne and his music paved the way for the Ojos de Brujo, Manu Chao and the Gypsy Kings. Tonight, backed by his Barcelonan big band, the ultimate showman, celebrating 50 years in music, finally brings his rumba to London.
