Schubert String Quintet on gut strings - T01031888437In the finale of our Spring Concert Series at the Old Library, Festival organiser Orlando Joplin has gathered some of his favourite musicians for a performance on gut strings of the great Schubert String Quintet in C major D956. The Bloomsbury Players explore the romantic chamber repertoire on gut strings with a historically informed perspective. Consone Quartet - T0636849052In the second of our Spring Concert Series at the Old Library, the Consone Quartet - one of the most exciting young string quartets in the UK at the moment - play Haydn & Mozart. Their debut at Roman River follows performances at the Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Brighton and Buxton Festivals, the Heidelberg String Quartet Festival, Philharmonie de Paris and Auditorium de Lyon, Concertgebouw Brugge, AMUZ and de Bijloke in Belgium, Concerts d'été à St Germain in Switzerland, venues in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria and Slovenia, and the Wigmore Hall, King's Place and St John's Smith Square in their home city of London. They'll make their North American debut in February 2023 but you don't have to go all that way - they're coming to your doorstep in Colchester! | |

Tom Hodgkinson, Rudy Blu, Will Aichison and Freddie Waxman - T1946297337We kick off our Spring Concert Series at the Old Library with a performance of Bach, Piazzola and more by the incredibly talented winner of the Essex Young Musician of the Year Tom Hodgkinson. Tom wowed us in 2022 with his spotlight guitar performance at the Roman River Festival, so we've invited him for a longer recital. It'll be a beautiful, intimate set in a perfect acoustic.
