Call Me Merman - T1426688555

West End Diva Rosemary Ashe pays tribute to Ethel Merman, the legendary first lady of the musical comedy stage. Belting out her songs with merry abandon, she helped electrify the Broadway musical. Rosie brings those songs alive, as only she can, in a fun filled irreverent evening of music and laughter with excerpts from Annie get your Gun, Anything Goes, Call me Madam, Gypsy and many more.Musical Director Paul Knight.

Rosie is currently playing Miss Andrew the nasty nanny in the Disney / Cameron Mackintosh smash hit musical MARY POPPINS at the Prince Edward Theatre. Her varied career has ranged widely across musical theatre and she has appeared in Les Miserables, Oliver!, The Phantom of the Opera in which she created the role of the prima donna Carlotta and The Witches of Eastwick. But there's still more, for Miss Ashe is also a skilled cabaret performer. A generous and rather camp performer, she has fun on stage and her enjoyment is infectious. She has a voice of stunning range with a marvelously mischievous sense of humour. Her cabaret is a roller coaster ride through some of the most delightful melodies in show business - many of them seldom heard. Intelligence and gaiety distinguish the evening from first note to last. Rosie has the rare gift of making members of an audience believe she sings for them alone, so that they experience her world of wit, naughtiness, tenderness and disillusion as if sharing confidence. Hers is an inimitable and cherishable art. If there is one show you really have to see, this is it. It will revive memories of the great revues, the great artistes, great comic moments and great songwriters.
