Salsa Thursday - Salsa Celtica archiveDetermined to defy their Arctic surrounds, Salsa Celtica was formed in 1996 by a group of Celtic and Latino musicians (Celtino) to create a Caledonian Caribbean Salsa Paradise. Exuberant soloing; South American folk songs, Cuban son, cumbia, rumba and salsa rhythms; improvisation; Scottish reels; ceilidh tunes - all went into the musical mix. Salsa Celtica have grown in stature and popularity in the last two years becoming one of the UK's top Festival acts. Salsa Celtica will be performing material from their new album with a host of special guest performers.
