Sinfonia Cymru was formed by Musical Director Gareth Jones and creates a unique platform to launch young players into the music profession at the beginning of their career. Sinfonia Cymru's March 2012 Celebration of Strings Tour features a wonderful array of music for strings, from Mozart's light-hearted Divertimento to Tchaikovsky's brilliantly colourful Serenade for Strings. The programme also features Welsh born composer William Mathias' Divertimento for Strings. Mathias is one of Wales' most famous composers, whose music is played all over the world. Sinfonia Cymru welcomes to the stage David Adams, Leader of the orchestra of Welsh National Opera, who will direct the orchestra's outstanding musicians in their joyful celebration of music for strings.
