Sinfonia Cymru was formed by Musical Director Gareth Jones and creates a unique platform to launch young players into the music profession at the beginning of their career. Sinfonia Cymru concludes a wonderful first year of residency at The Riverfront with a chance to show off. Ravel’s exuberant orchestral suite, Le Tombeau de Couperin, gives the woodwind section an occasion to shine while the strings get their turn in Tippett’s ‘Little Music’. Sinfonia Cymru started its residency at The Riverfront with a First Wednesday recital performed by William Stafford, a truly outstanding young clarinettist and member of Sinfonia Cymru. The orchestra will welcome William back to the stage for a performance of Mozart’s ever popular clarinet concerto which, along with Beethoven’s hard hitting first symphony, will create a wonderful night of music making not to be missed by any music lover.
