Formerly East of England Orchestra. sinfonia ViVA return to Curve with their Principal Conductor André de Ridder and a time-travelling programme of contrasts. Included is a rare opportunity to hear the ‘jewel’ that is Barber’s Adagio for Strings set in the context of the whole work, the String Quartet No.1 in its version for string orchestra. The interesting melodies of Anna Meredith’s Songs for the M8 inject their own fresh dynamic. Glass’s Symphony No.3 emphasises the players as soloists in a composition where he came closer to 'traditional' symphonic form than ever before. And there’s the gravity of Beethoven’s astonishing and dramatic Grosse Fugue.
