'Taiko to Tabla' is a unique fusion of musical traditions from all over the world, featuring 40 drums on stage. From the start the sounds compel the listener: the powerful pounding beat of Japanese taiko gives way to the intricate finger rhythms of the Indian tabla, the breathy warm tones of the shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) fade into the driving rhythms of the African djembe, and the interweaving cross rhythms of Arabia are justaposed with the mesmerising phonetic rhythms of South India. A percussive feast, for the eyes and ears.
