Born in Monticelli, Mississippi, Byther Smith got his first musical experience with Gospel Music. He moved to Chicago when he was 24 years old where he began gigging and taking guitar lessons with the two best teachers in the business, Robert Lockwood and Hubert Sunlin. Since that time, he has toured to venues and Blues Festivals all over the world, playing with all the household names in the business.
