The Grand Union Orchestra - H-Wired archiveThe Orchestra challenges your perceptions, drawing on artists, musicians and instruments from many traditions world-wide producing an explosive creative force. Passionate music and songs fuse the spiritual calm of Indian classical music and the rhythmic energy of bhangra with exhilarating jazz solos, rhythms from Africa and the Caribbean and big-band blues. This unique global Orchestra includes world-class musicians including tabla master Yousuf Ali Khan, and ‘angel voice’ Lucy Rahman from Bangladesh with some of the countries most outstanding jazz soloists including Claude Deppa, Shanti Paul Jayasinha, Louise Elliot and Brian Abrahams. This show will also include a special performance by local young musicians and singers.
