The Life, Times and Music of Gram Parsons archiveGram Parsons virtually invented "Country Rock" when he joined The Byrds in 1968 and hijacked their musical direction. His death in 1973, at the tender age of 26, cut short a life during which he had been instrumental in breaking down the barriers between Country, Soul, and Rock music. His legacy also paved the way for such as The Eagles and Emmylou Harris.
