A song cycle by Derek Jarman and Donna McKevitt. Donna McKevitt composed the sound track for Derek Jarman s film Blue, and shortly before he died, he gave her permission to set his poetry to music. This is a rare chance to encounter the music and words live and in an intimate setting. The cycle is scored for three female voices and contralto, plus five instrumental interludes for viola and cello. TRANSLUCENCE was recorded and an album launched originally in 1998. It was editors choice in Gramophone, given five stars in Classical CD, and acclaimed by The Times and Evening Standard.
