Audiences all over the world have enjoyed Trilok Gurtu’s compositions which link subtle Indian rhythms and singing with elements of modern jazz and rock. For Svapnagata in collaboration with seven Western classical musicians he presents an eclectic mix of instruments ranging from French horn, trumpet and violin to the santoor and didgeridoo. Together they perform works including a Bach concerto and the Romanian Dances by Béla Bartók. The Western musicians in turn will perform Trilok Gurtu’s own compositions with him and renowned Norwegian Saxophonist Jan Gabarek will make a special guest appearance

Indian master percussionist Trilok Gurtu is joined by Italy's Arkè String Quartet to perform music from their critically acclaimed CD, Arkeology, as part of the 2008/09 International Chamber Music Season. This concert represents a rare departure from the classical tradition for the International Chamber Music Season. Both Gurtu and the Arkè Quartet effortlessly cross musical boundaries and have previously collaborated to record their 2007 album Arkeology, which saw them employ Indian, Balkan and Celtic rhythms to create music of melodic force.
