Between Mussorgsky’s portrait of devil worship on a witches’ sabbath (Night on a Bare Mountain) and Sibelius’s brooding, passionate 1st symphony, the orchestra are joined by the very popular Brighton-based pianist Yoko Ono for Shostakovich’s effervescent 2nd Piano Concerto - originally written as a birthday gift for his 19 year old son.
