Cham is a unique and colourful form of Tibetan dance and music, telling stories of ancient heroes and amazing deeds, with unusual characters such as the elusive and beautiful snow lion to demons and princes! The performance features rituals, prayers, chants and dances. The dances, some of which date back to the 7th century, are performed in their original form, accompanied by traditional instruments. Two unique dances include the sha cham, or dance of the sacred heart, and the black hat dance. Many of the rituals and prayers have never been performed in the West before. Suitable for all the family, the show will feature explanation of the stories and meanings behind the dances from Tibetan spiritual leader His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche.
