Summer Performance - T1206893970The programme of classical ballet and contemporary dance features director of dance Michael Corder's Rhyme Nor Reason, an energetic, entertaining and exciting ballet set to Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oakes Concerto originally created for the Royal Ballet in 1978, and Mary Skeaping's much loved traditional staging of Giselle Act II, a perfect example of 19th Century Romantic Ballet at its finest. The Dream - T0545048068English National Ballet School gives an exclusive performance at Royal Festival Hall, including the lullaby section from Frederick Ashton's The Dream, which is based on the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night's Dream. This pas de deux is a dialogue between the proud, capricious Fairy Queen Titania and Oberon, the King of the Fairies. This is the first time since 1978 that a school has performed this pas de deux; the original Oberon, Sir Anthony Dowell, has given his permission for this performance by English National Ballet School.
