Rian - T2126974868

Described as "one of the most daring and highly original dance theatre companies in the world" (The Times) Fabulous Beast makes its second visit of the season to Sadler's Wells for Sadler's Sampled with Rian, a celebration of Ireland's roots and traditions which recently received a Bessie award for Outstanding Production. Choreographer and founding director of Fabulous Beast Michael Keegan-Dolan is a Sadler's Wells Associate Artist, and has established a reputation for his dynamic and innovative approach to theatre. In one of his most celebrated works, he collaborates with one of Ireland's most successful musicians Liam O Maonla? of Hothouse Flowers, drawing inspiration from O Maonlai's 2005 solo album Rian, which means 'mark' or 'trace' in Irish. A moving and uplifting experience, Rian sees Keegan-Dolan and the cast of eight dancers and five musicians tap into Irish traditions with influences from faraway places to evoke a timeless vision of the real indescribable nature of things. Set to O Maonlai's beautiful score, which mixes Irish sounds with elements of world music, Rian "has a shared, spontaneous warmth... It really does feel like a party on stage" (The Independent).

The Rite of Spring/Petrushka - T01451350411

Keegan-Dolan reimagines his Olivier-nominated version of The Rite of Spring, which premiered at the London Coliseum in 2009 to great critical acclaim. Named as one of a few accounts that has truly realised Stravinsky's vision alongside those of Vaslav Nijinsky, Kenneth MacMillan, Pina Bausch and L?onide Massine, it has been described as "inspired" (The Times). The evening is completed by Keegan-Dolan's new interpretation of Petrushka, composed by Stravinsky in 1911. Performed by the exquisite dancers of Fabulous Beast, both pieces together create an intoxicating double bill of dance theatre that honours the searing modernity of Stravinsky's music. The Bull - T0186773912

The production is based on the great Irish epic An Tain Bo Cuailnge (The Cattle-Raid of Cooley), which recounts a long, bloody war fought over a celebrated bull. Keegan-Dolan transposes this gem of Irish sagas to the savage underbelly of contemporary society. A cast of runts, imbeciles, egomaniacs, masochistic deviants and impotent catamites squabble and conspire in the bogs and towns of an Irish-tinged world in which corruption, deception and adultery are at the heart. Age guidance 16+. This production contains nudity and explicit material and language. 90mins/no intervalProducer BITE07. Producer Dublin Theatre Festival. Choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan.

The Flowerbed - T1874231916

A Romeo and Juliet for our time, this version depicts a suburban nightmare as feuding families come to blows over the flowerbed that separates their domains. These horrors make the Montagues and Capulets look like beacons of respectability and compatibility as love, sex, drugs and gardening are battled over by the neighbours from hell. In Keegan Dolan’s characteristic style the physically daring confrontations clash with moments of tenderness and lyricism in what is a fiercely imaginative retelling of the famous tragedy.Producer BITE. Giselle - T986502359

The hit of the 2003 Dublin Theatre Festival, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre brings a radical reworking of Giselle to the Barbican. Taking the story that inspired the ballet as its starting point, Keegan-Dolan's Giselle is transported onto a stage soaked in aggression and violence with moments of haunting tenderness. Set in the fictional town of Ballyfeeny, this is a moving two step between the forces of laughter and disaster, a grim social tragedy peopled by phoney cowboys, line dancers and ghosts.Author Michael Keegan-Dolan. Director Michael Keegan-Dolan (Michael Keegan-Dolan (Theophile Gautier). Design Sophie Charalambous. Lighting Adam Silverman. Music Philip Feeney.
