Production details
Jérôme Bel first appeared at Sadler’s Wells in February 2008 with a retrospective of some of his most famous works spanning nine years. This provocative, free-spirited choreographer has delighted and shocked audiences across the world with his performances which test the boundaries of dance and theatre with humour, intelligence and unwavering confidence. Now Bel turns his attention to the audience, delivering an intimate hour-long talk in which he looks back at performances he has seen, recounting memories which throw a fascinating light on his own influences, as well as the very concept of live performance. In his own words "I have no doubt that the best position in a theatre is not the one of the performer, nor the one of the choreographer or the director, but the one of the spectator". This world premiere offers an opportunity to gain a fascinating insight into the mind of one of the dance world's true mavericks.
