Work type: Dance or ballet

Unleashed - T1823250881

For two nights only, Joaquín Cortés is back in London with a stripped-down show exclusively for the Roundhouse. He’ll perform with a band of 13 singers and musicians playing contemporary flamenco on flute, violin, drums and bass, and traditional flamenco guitar. From early beginnings with the National Ballet of Spain, he went on to form his own flamenco ballet company in 1992 and seduce audiences at sell-out shows around the world. More recently he’s choreographed for Jennifer Lopez, danced with Alicia Keyes at the Grammies and performed at the Oscars. This is your chance to see Cortés bolder, wilder and braver than ever - and with a few surprise guests - before he sets out on a world tour.

Mi Soledad (My Solitude) - T1312799377

In Mi Soledad (My Solitude), Joaquin offers us an expression of his deepest feelings. With the subtitle 'Solea' showing the artistic direction of this new show, this is an intimate journey. The main emotion is that of loneliness but one that is understood and charged with intimacy. The costumes have been designed specially for this show by Jean Paul Gaultier, keeping as usual his simple and elegant style, with basic colours such as black, white and dark red - colours of blood and wine and colours that keep in touch with the harmony of the show.
