Internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Nahid Siddiqui is the leading exponent of the ancient Kathak dance tradition of north India. She has won much praise for her ability to mix an innovative approach and dynamic use of Western designs and staging with a reverence for the classical origins of the dance form. My Motherland - explores the motherland of Kathak and celebrates the power and imagery of it's traditions. Parchaiyan (Shadows) is a series of solos and duets embodying the three aspects of Kathak dance - mood, melody and rhythmic timing - and highlighting the dramatic mime and dleicate grace of the form.
