Base/The Engineers/Sam Quy/Tavaziva Dance/Miks/Freddie Opoku Addaie

The Programme Includes; Temitope Ajose Cutting’s BASE - a smart, classy piece for 5 female dancers, accompanied by live band. BASE was previously shown at Royal Opera House, Woking Dance Festival and in New York. The Engineers - 70s funk music meets break dancing and 70s outfits: fun-dance by expert break dancers and lockers to get you into the right party mood. Sam Quy and her musicians from Flamencoshow present the essence of flamenco in modern style: passionate, stylish and with live guitar and singer. Tavaziva Dance: following from his success in Richmond in Oct 07, Zimbabwe-born Bawren Tavaziva is back with a new trio of Africa-inspired physical dance. Miks: a new all-Finish trio in FLAPPERS - a commissioned piece by Frauke Requardt. Set to a witty jazz score, three dancers clad in shimmying 20s costumes perform a set of absurd and hilarious routines. Freddie Opoku Addaie: a new muscular physical male duet with real punch by Place Prize 2006 finalist, exploring notions of friendship, difference and competition between men. Plus: a chance to learn some flamenco moves and have a go at hand-locking. The evening is part of the Partners in Dance 2008 programme, organised by Richmond Arts Team and is funded by London Borough of Richmond, Arts Council England and Hampton Community College. The Partners in Dance 2008 programme has been curated by Eckhard Thiemann. Queen Charliotte Hall, Richmon Adult Community College, Parkshot, Richmond TW9 2RE. Tel: 020 88831 6000/020 88831 6494
