UK Premiere. Opiyo Okach's resolutely experimental Shift...centre - series 10 is based on improvisation and instant composition. It breaks down conventional performance boundaries and blurs the edges between participants and audience through its exploration of multiple spaces and perceptions. In this promenade performance, the audience is free to move about and gain a 360 degree view of the multiple scenes at play. Joined by a group of London performers, the six African dancers move with a dynamic precision and fluidity to an electronic score augmented by powerful Kenyan vocalist Anastasia Akumu. The choices of the dancers, the public and the characteristics of the space determine the overall structure of the piece making each performance unique.
