Even More/Shuffle It Right/Movements From Petrushka
Even More is driven by the sharp contrasts of Prokofiev’s brilliant sixth Piano Sonata. Terse anger melts suddenly into a sweet lyricism.
Shuffle It Right is a light and good-humoured piece syncopating to the jazzy songs of Hoagy Carmichael, including Riverboat Shuffle, Ol’ Man Harlem and, of course, Star Dust.
Movements From Petrushka reworks images from the ballet Petrushka, and is revived to mark the recent centenary of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.
