Water Music - danced to the hugely famous suite by Handel, carries the company along on a wave of crisp melody an dspeedy rhythm. A project cherished by the choreographer for some time, his recent discovery of Jordi Savall's robust and vigorous interpretation kick-started Alston into action.
Soda Lake made by Alston when he was director of Rambert Dance Company, is framed by Nigel Hall's arresting sculpture, and remarkable for its sense of calm, stillness alternating with flurries of activity.
Strange Company The disturbed world of the composer Robert Schumann animates Alston's second new creation
Strange Company. Swirling with romantic fervour but haunted by the menacing characters dreamed up in the composer's troubled imagination, this is indeed music possessed.
Red Run, set to a jazz-influenced score by the cult German composer Heiner Goebbels. Completing the programme is the beautiful duet Light Flooding into Darkened Rooms which delves into the inner feelings of two individuals in intimate encounter.
