T454267851
To mark the 80th birthday of The Place's Founding Artistic Director, for one very special night, three dance companies join together in celebrating the work of Robert Cohan, a pivotal and pioneering figure in British contemporary dance. Robert Cohan himself will appear onstage, talking about his work and philosophy. Perhaps too long taken for granted, now is the perfect moment to reasses his remarkable body of work.

Forest/Stabat Mater/Eclipse/Sun/moon man/woman
Phoenix Dance Theatre presents
Forest, sinuous animal movement unfolding in continuous flow to a subtle soundscore of forest murmurs. Nine female dancers from Ballet Theatre Munich perform
Stabat Mater, expressing the grief of Mary at the foot of the cross through subdued and lyrical ensemble work. Especially revived for this celebration is Cohan's early masterpiece, the duet
Eclipse.
Sun/moon, man/woman mark out the patterns of an impossible struggle for power.
Eclipse is performed by dancers from Richard Alston Dance Company.
