Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is one of the biggest pioneers of contemporary dance. Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's hugely influential Rosas company return to Sadler's Wells with the UK premiere of Vortex Temporum, celebrating the intricacies of contemporary music. This bold new piece is based around Vortex Temporum, a rigorously constructed and refined work by the renowned French composer G?rard Grisey. The score offers both a spectral harmony, based on natural acoustic properties of sound, and a high sense of motility in circles and spirals - favoured patterns for performances by Rosas. The dancers of Rosas pair with their long-time collaborators, the musicians of Ictus, in a shared quest for composing various experiences of time. In this groundbreaking new work, De Keersmaeker searches for how time contracts and expands, swirls and foliates in a choreographic counterpoint of sound, musicians' gestures, dancers' movements and spatial dynamics.
