Artist and Choreographer Holly Blakey dives into the hyper-sexualised language of the music video to address ideas of connectivity, gender and class. Dancers writhe and contract in a modern day Garden of Eden, navigating the complexities of voyeurism and pleasure whilst laying bare the subtle and not-so-subtle dynamics of contemporary pop culture. Created in collaboration with musicians Gwilym Gold and Darkstar, Some Greater Class inscribes the process of viewing and being viewed on the performer's bodies, delicately commenting on the normative ideals promoted in mainstream pop culture. From explosive energy to vulnerability and transgression, the dancers' search for connection offers a potent reminder of the radical potential of live performance.
