Stone Crabsis a theatre piece devised by the Brazilian actors Franko Figueiredo and Tereza Araujo and tells a simple but powerful and emotional story of a young couple in a spiral of hatred, violence and love. Originally performed in their home in South East London in October 2001, then at the Lewisham s International Women s Festival in March 2002, Stones and Crabs has completed a successful run at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Franko & Tereza are also joined by Najla Ferreira Kay, Jonathan Preiss acclaimed classical guitarist and Monica Ube Brazilian soprano. Together, they provide a stunning live soundtrack, which includes both contemporary Brazilian and Classical numbers. The text is in English for the most part and Portuguese, having been inspired by interviews with victims of abuse.
