and Ngawang Lodup
Recreating the mysteries of the Buddhist Monastery, eight Tibetan monks from Tashi Lhunpo offer a dramatic presentation of sacred dance, music and prayer with traditional costumes and ceremonial masks. With instruments from the ancient tantric tradition - long horns, bells, cymbals and skull drums - as well as the atmospheric calm of traditional chanting and prayers, the monks evoke the special atmosphere of their monastery. They are joined by Ngawang Lodup. Descended from a long line of well-known nomadic singers, Ngawang settled in the UK and was the first world music artist to join the BBC's Introducing scheme, playing traditional songs on the dramnyen (a six-string lute).
