A haunting physical theatre performance inspired by Michel Foucault’s text ‘The four similitudes’ about the territory of subjectivity and perception, attraction and repulsion. Created by an ensemble of award-winning artists from various disciplines, 'Verissimilitude', deciphers subconscious symbols and explores the fabric of the human condition. Jealousy and blind emulation; affinity and mechanisms of isolation. A witness trying to halt the machine of fate. A modern-day cannibal surrenders to his final victim in pursuit of self-annihilation. The hunter and the hunted are one. "By means of this interplay, the world remains identical; resemblances continue to be what they are, and to resemble one another. The same remains the same, riveted unto itself." (Michel Foucault). "Verissimilitude constructs a Foucaultian body to explore the relationships between our senses and reality. Through sensorial exchanges, the dancer’s body and the audience’s body are gradually sown together - as if they were one sole body - a body, as described by the philosopher, as the "place of argument and power". The relationships' threads are built with great competence, spreading out from the dancing body, invading the stage, and impregnating the audience with a unifying atmosphere."
