New projects by Doris Salcedo, including a whole room installation, Tenebrae, a complex installation made from lead structures. Rooted in an event which took place in Colombia on 6 November 1985, where guerillas stormed a town, burning the high court and leaving 50,000 lead gun cartridges scattered in their wake. Tenebrae refers to the sense of absence, greyness and emptiness experienced on the 7 November, the day after the desecration, and evokes the experience of the silent and distant witness. The second work will relate to Tenebrae and the events of the 6 November. Like all of Doris Salcedo s work, the presentation and physical installation is ambitious and complex, requiring the construction of a room within a room. Jose D
