Moved by Conflict archiveThe First World War had a profound effect on Bristol and its people, even though it was not a direct part of the ?theatre of war'. The city was a hub of transport and industry, and individual lives and communities were changed forever. Through the stories of Bristol people, Moved by Conflict explores physical, social and personal change, taking visitors from the Bristol of the 1900s and its position in the British Empire, through the years of the 'Great War', and up to the present day impact of global conflicts. Melly Still, an Associate Director at Bristol Old Vic, brings a theatrical storytelling sensibility to the design and interpretation of the exhibition. Visitors can choose one of six archetypal characters she has created and follow them through the First World War sections, finding them in film, audio and graphics amongst related real-life material. The exhibition is part of Bristol 2014, a cultural programme marking the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. For more information on the rest of the programme, visit bristol2014.com
